KUNMING, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) — The 12th World Chinese Media Forum opened in Kunming, capital of southwest China’s Yunnan Province, on Saturday. The forum, hosted by China News Service, brought together more than 120 Chinese-language media outlets from over 50 countries and regions. The theme of the forum was “Toward Victory, Toward Rejuvenation, Toward Harmony.”
Chen Xu, vice minister of the United Front Work Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and head of the State Council’s Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, addressed the opening ceremony. Chen said this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
He called on Chinese-language media to carry forward the spirit of the war, unite overseas Chinese communities, and present China’s commitment to peaceful development and win-win cooperation to the world.
Li Baojun, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee and head of the province’s United Front Work Department, also delivered remarks at the opening.
Chen Lujun, president of China News Service, gave a speech, and representatives of overseas Chinese media shared views.
During the forum, seminars and roundtable discussions were held, focusing on topics including patriotism, national spirit, and the development of Chinese media in the age of artificial intelligence.
