The photo exhibition commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, opened on September 2 in Colombo, the capital city. The exhibition, held at a Tamil-medium school in Colombo, features more than 40 precious historical photographs vividly depicting China’s arduous resistance and the joint efforts of people worldwide to safeguard peace.
In her remarks, Counselor Ji Lili of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka emphasized that China, as the main battlefield in the East during World War II, made significant contributions to defeating Japanese militarism and securing the victory of the global anti-fascist war. She highlighted that although China and Sri Lanka are separated by the ocean, the two countries have shared close cultural ties since ancient times, and today, cooperation continues to deepen under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. She expressed hope that the exhibition would inspire the younger generation to become promoters of peace, guardians of history, and builders of a better world.
The exhibition will run for one week and tour several schools across Sri Lanka. Through photo displays, documentary screenings, thematic lectures, and detailed brochures, it aims to introduce Sri Lankan students to the history of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, showcasing the unyielding spirit of the Chinese nation and its firm determination to resist foreign invasion.
